Just hours after former US Speedskating Short Track head coach Jae Su Chun announced his resignation, he has released a formal statement. The statement, embedded below, was translated from the original Korean.
In his remarks, Chun claims that not only did he never order Simon Cho to tamper with Canadian Speedskater Olivier Jean’s speedskates, but that he did not hear about the act until more than a month after the event. In regards to the abuse allegations, Chun says:
With regards to the allegations of abuse, I will not dignify that document with a response. I would ask the press and the public to read closely the White & Case report, the grievance and the arbitration filings which have made their way onto the internet. I find abuse repugnant.
