(Metropolitan Nashville Police Department)
Shaun White, the Olympic gold medal winning snowboarder and multiple X-Games medal winning snowboarder/skateboarder, was arrested in Nashville on Monday and charged with public intoxication and vandalism.
White, who is publicly known as pretty tame (aka ‘totally square’) within the aggressive sports world, reportedly got drunk (or ‘schwasty’, as the kids call it) and pulled a hotel fire alarm, which is, you know, pretty rad for a 26-year-old.
Everyone was evacuated from the hotel and the X-Games star tried to hightail it out of there in a cab. Unfortunately, White was prevented from leaving by an irate hotel guest, who informed the star that the police had been called. Not one to let the perfect getaway fail, White reportedly kicked the guy in the leg and took off on foot.
Well, that just made the hotel guest even more irate because he chased the snowboarding superstar formally known as the Flying Tomato down the street looking to get a little vigilante justice, street-style. White’s escape, which one can only imagine was Benny Hill-esque, was finally brought to a conclusion when he suddenly turned around, resulting in a collision between the skateboarding millionaire and his pursuer. White fell over backwards and hit his head on a fence.
White was arrested and will have to make an appearance in court on Oct.10th. The snowboarder has issued a statement saying that he “truly sorry” for his “unwise choices.” White also apologized for “any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel and their guests. I was celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I’m truly sorry for my poor behavior.”
Don’t worry about White, he has faced down adversity before. Check this story out:
