The New GoPro BacPac/Remote Setup Will Revolutionize Broadcasting.
Sooooo cooool!!!!
We’ve loved the potential and the awesome media incursion occurring because of the proliferation of ‘wearable action cams’ made ubiquitous by GoPro. Now that company has launched a product that could be absolutely revolutionary to the content production business.
The Cali-based cam co that has made so many wingsuiting videos possible just announced its new ‘GoPro Wifi BacPac + Wifi Remote Combo Kit.‘ The kit allows you to wirelessly stream your GoPro cams’ output to the internet and control each device from wireless remote. You also will be able to control each cam, see the video, and stream the output to your smartphone and tablets with a free app.
The setup can control up to 50 cams at a time. To give you an idea of the power this setup can control, NBC uses 57 cameras to broadcast the superbowl. Obviously, NBC is getting a much richer feature set with camera operators that can follow the action and change zoom and focus, but by going the GoPro route your also saving yourself about $20 million in production costs.
Basically, you get to direct your own media production in real time, high def, for $99.
If you want multiple cams, that’s going to cost you a lot more than $99, but maybe you could just start a co-op between you and your buddies? Viola, instant media conglomerate.
Check out the video above starring skateboarder Ryan Sheckler to see what’s possible.
