USA Swimming‘s 2011-12 Grand Prix Series finished this weekend in Santa Clara, CA. Any guesses on who the overall Grand Prix? Yeah, despite not even competing at the final GP of the season (he was in Austin at a different tune-up meet), 637-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps still took the overall Grand Prix points win.
This weekend’s races were an international affair with Australians and Japanese both showing good results. Although several of the top US athletes were not competing, opting to spend time preparing for the upcoming Olympic Trials at the end of the month, both Dana Vollmer and Natalie Coughlin were in force, each making multiple trips to the podium.
