You know what?  2008 Olympic rower Megan Kalmoe has a great eye for stories.  In this video, posted on her YouTube channel, Kalmoe takes us behind the scenes with some of the biggest stars in women’s rowing as they took part in Wednesday’s ‘100 Days to London‘ kickoff in NYC.

Even at an event with as much ‘eye-candy’ as this one, it’s tough to really capture the excitement and scale without a team of producers, stars, and editors.  Kalmoe took a ton of footage and cut it down in a way to keep it interesting and to really give a feel for what the day was like, without all the boring elements that usually make ‘home video’ kinda dull.  The video features national team members and gold medalists Susan Francia, Mary Whipple, Caroline Lind, Erin Cafaro, and Elle Logan.  Cinéma vérité-y!!

So check it out the video above and be sure to subscribe to Megan’s YouTube channel.  Even if you don’t know much about rowing, you’ll enjoy her videos.  She’s also a great blogger: MeganKalmoe.com.

Some highlights from the video:

  • Could gold medalist Susan Francia look anymore ‘rockstar’ at :19 into the video?
  • Speaking of Susan, sweet cut at 1:30
  • Well, well, well!  Is that gold medalist speedskater, shameless self-promoter, and DailyHouse founder Joey Cheek racing a 100m erg piece against our auteur at 3:57 – and winning?!?!
  • Is the emcee hitting on the team at 7:19?  Who could blame him?
